The trouble with white South Africans is that they suffer from a distinct LACK of white guilt. The reason is that they are racist to the bone. The more loudly that they protest that they are not racist, the more certain it is that they are. An absence of white guilt and / or taking pride in the fact that they are white is conclusive proof that they are bad to the bone racist scum.
Let’s get this straight once and for all – white South Africans, ALL OF US, were responsible for Apartheid. Every single last one of us. Even if you joined Umkhonto we Sizwe and attacked a white church with hand grenades and assault rifles, you, just by being WHITE, were an intrinsic part of the problem.
Apartheid was YOUR fault. It was MY fault. It was OUR fault.
And it is high time that we stopped denying this, minimising this and wishing it away. It will never go away. It is just the way things are.
South Africa’s unemployment rate is pushing 40% and it has one of the world’s highest murder rates. But analysts agree that white South Africans are still relatively cushioned from such hardships.

Observe the bleating of white South African racists (above), shit scared that blacks are gonna kill them. Why are they so scared? Because WHITE South Africans are corporately responsible for all the deaths of all the black South Africans who died as a result of Apartheid.
Did you serve in the SADF (South African Defence Force) or SAP (South African Police) during the Apartheid era? I did. I carried a rifle in a township. I oppressed black people. I assisted the SAP who brutally attacked, beat, arrested, tortured and killed black people who just wanted to be FREE. It doesn’t matter that I didn’t do it myself or that I never fired a shot in anger. Mea culpa. I did that, because I was there, with a gun, prepared to kill on demand of my country.
And now today, because I speak out and confront my fellow white South Africans whenever I see racial bias in favour of whites, these white South Africans can’t understand why I’m doing this. They regard me as a traitor, as if I swore a holy oath of fealty to unconditionally support the interests of the white race group JUST BECAUSE I AM WHITE.
WRONG!
I owe white South Africans dick shit. My loyalty is not towards white South Africans, my loyalty is to SOUTH AFRICANS.
Don’t ask me, like white South African racist NeilO did, “what race are you?” because my race is completely irrelevant.
Honestly, I don’t know why white South Africans expect me to buy into the insanity of their racism just because I share with them a white skin. Perhaps they’re so accustomed to being surrounded by white racists that it comes as a complete shock to them to meet a fellow white person who doesn’t instinctively support their self-serving bullshit?
Listen up white South African racists – I AM NOT ON YOUR SIDE. I bat for the other team.

I am sick of hearing white South African’s complaining about how unfair this country is. “It’s not fair I am more qualified than Black Dude but he gets the job. It should be decided on merit alone.” Where was that argument during Apartheid when white jobs were protected and the colour bar restricted the employment opportunities of non-whites.
Then there’s the next zinger, “Apartheid was like 17 years ago. Don’t you think affirmative action has been going on long enough.” Apartheid officially lasted over 40 years and existed as unofficial forms of segregation for 100 plus years before that. But you’re right 17 years can easily undo the effects over 140 years of oppression.
The worst part of it is that affirmative action is not even that hectic, there are still tons of whites getting jobs instead of blacks. The problem with white people in South Africa is that we are way too busy feeling sorry for ourselves instead of accepting responsibility.

I’ve met a few White South Africans who’ve moved to the UK recently, because of what they see as the terrible crime rates and violence. From their stories, they give the impression of total chaos over there. One person acknowledges the extreme disparity between the rich and the poor, and blame that on the extremity of crimes committed in S.A. Until everyone has some equality, everyone it seems will suffer, one way or another!

I do not want SA ex-pats back, unless they can convince me that they’re not racists.
The SA couple above who lost their asylum appeal above should be helped by the SA government in their quest to remain in the US, by confirming their story. Honestly, I do not wish any South African to feel compelled to stay here. If they want to go, they should be given all assistance to leave.
I only want to be surrounded by South Africans who are committed to this country and to all its people to see that everyone gets a fair deal. If all they want to do is enrich themselves and to hell with others, then they can go now.

October 27th, 2007 at 11:56I agree that many expats are spiteful, but crime is a very valid reason for their escape. Yes there is a level of white guilt which should be expressed. But crime has become so vicious in some previously-white areas, look at Lynwood manor in Pretoria. There was something like 3 murders in 4 days, a particularly vicious one of Cathy Odendaal, who was robbed, raped and tortured to death, and just doors away a few days before, a toddler was shot. Despite all this, the government was committed against not granting the community with permission to create a gated community. According to a gov official anyone involved in barricades will be ‘treated in the harshest manner possible’. Fortunately the courts saw sense, and they’ve won the right to an appeal. But who can blame expats for leaving the crime situation?
But in terms of SA’s international image, I’d say that sometimes expats do distort SA’s image and it is hypocritical when they no longer live there. But I do think that there are faults on both sides. The gov are incompetent in the fight against crime, and in turn, the crime in the suburbs feeds generalisations that blacks are criminals. This leads to a greater breakdown in racial relations, as do the racist undertones of much of the ANC propaganda.

The problem is that we feel too guilty, not just for apartheid, but more generally for the uncivilized nature of blacks. I do not feel guilty for anything; I don’t see why I should be made to feel guilty merely based on the colour of my skin. If anything, black behaviour post-apartheid has shown us (or at least those of us who did believe that apartheid was immoral and wrong, and wanted to see it dismantled) that there is NOTHING to feel guilty about!!! Blacks deserved apartheid fair and square. In fact, blacks were treated way too softly; S. African authorities made the fatal mistake of thinking of blacks as HUMANS, an item of faith which has been debunked by black African HISTORY (and ‘African-American’ behaviour in the civilised world). Point well taken. Yes, I am a ‘racist piece of shit’. But is that all you could come up with? How about addressing, for once, the current situation in SA and Rhodesia beyond the need to ‘transform’ sports? Suppose that we do admit that we were all ‘guilty’ of apartheid and colonialism, what then? Does it justify the behaviour of blacks? Does it make white citizens deserving of their current predicament? What have the black rulers of the country achieved since the dismantlement of apartheid? Do tell me; I would like to know why I should have ANY respect towards those people.
If you think you can have ‘dialogue’ with black criminals, why can’t you do the same with a white ‘racist’, especially that this ‘racist piece of shit’ has been ‘colourblind’ all his life until very recently, and that owing to personal experiences? Is it because you have no explanations to give to someone who has been a victim of black hate crime, someone who has seen the hatred in their eyes, and almost ended up with a bullet in the head ?? Or is it that you are afraid that engaging me in dialogue would somehow, automatically, attach value to my ‘system of beliefs’?
I am not afraid of having dialogue. Are you? Note that I do not call it ‘debate’, because I do not wish to engage in an exchange of pointless, circular arguments; instead, I would like to touch on the (invisible) positives that you apparently see. What positives might those be? What’s in it for us white S. Africans? Who said SA has to necessarily adopt a majoritarian system of democracy (contrary to what many believe, majoritarianism is not the ONLY form of democracy; besides, how about MERITOCRACY?), and who said that sports need to reflect demographic realities… For example, take a look at American basketball, it is totally skewed in favour of blacks, even though they do not constitute more than 15% of the population of that country; would it be acceptable for the U.S government, or a white equivalent of ANC to call for racial quotas to make sports teams ‘representative’ of U.S demography? What is the demographic make-up of France? Compare that to the number of blacks in the French football squad. Then imagine how the whole world would react if France embarked on a racial ‘transformation’ of its sports.
I hope you can see my point. How can wrongs carried out against a certain group be righted by wronging members of another group? This is the problem then; people think that they are working towards justice, never mind that what they are doing is unjust (or perceived as such; for injustice that does not present any physical harm is often a matter of perception/perspective); they can’t see that SA is following Rhodesia’s lead. You talk about us as if we don’t care about our country. You look at our flight and say good riddance. Why? Is it because we are testimony to the reality that you refuse to accept? The reality that SA is plagued with corruption and crime?
I do not care who rules our country (black, white, etc. — something that cannot be said for the racist black ANC and the overwhelming majority of blacks), as long as they are doing a good job at running the country, ensuring that the hand of justice reaches every criminal irrespective of colour or associations, that the HIV/AIDS situation (which btw impacts blacks and not so much whites) is dealt with and that the deteriorating state of our health facilities is addressed, that standards of education are improved, that all are given equality of OPPORTUNITY (in sports, jobs, etc.), and that OUTCOMES are not manipulated (i.e. scrap the ‘equality of outcome’ mentality, give equality of opportunity a chance, and let things take their natural course). I believe in meritocracy and political/electoral platforms, because they would enable me to assess politicians’ performances. The same cannot be said for blacks, who vote based not on merit, but on skin colour and more specifically tribal belonging. Merit is anathema to blacks, both in the realm of politics and in the job market (hence AA and BEE; the beneficiaries of both programs are obviously not those who can’t afford the opportunity to begin with, but those who have had equality of opportunity, but who have been unable to produce equality of outcome because they are not good enough; so a racial system would give them jobs that they would not be able to acquire in a purely merit-based system). And that is the tragedy of Africa. Rhodesia and SA had the chance to break free of this model, but blacks proved that they are undeserving of that thing called freedom, because as soon as they are awarded it, they destroy the very system that they claimed to be fighting for. The few blacks who have been able to break free of this self-destructive pattern have decided to settle for greener pastures, just like us (though many of us did not have the luxury of DECIDING, we HAD to LEAVE). So I hope you can see where I am coming from; unfortunately, in SA we lack honest, dedicated people, honest politicians who work for the good of ALL citizens irrespective of skin colour and/or political views. In the ‘new’ SA, SA == ANC, and ANC == SA, nothing more, nothing less. And the likes of DA and FF+ are just barking for what they perceive to be their rightful share.

How is it that I make SA what it is today? I had no say in how my country was run, remember? The majority decides, remember, even if the decisions of that majority violate the spirit and letter of the constitution and the rights of a significant chunk of the population. Things like hate crime, hate speech, etc., are irrelevant in the ‘new’ SA, unless they are directed at blacks. Remember the SAHRC ruling on ‘kill the Boer’ huh? (I have a post on my blog about the double standards of ANC ‘justice’ and ‘human rights’). Now we are guilty even when he had nothing to do with how things were being run (into the ground)? I have not laid a hurtful hand on a black person in my life. I did not have a gun. I did not believe in violence. I was not a ‘racist piece of shit’. But none of that could save me from black hatred and violence. And now I’m the one who’s guilty of making SA what it is today? I left the country because I could not cope with the violence. It had hurt and traumatised me too much; it also shattered the hopes that I had for a country that I could be proud of without having to face accusations of racism, etc (which were quite common during the apartheid era). Besides, who said that apartheid did me good? Just because I was thought to be ‘privileged’ by the outside world and black S. Africans does not mean that I REALLY was. Some of us were marginalised because of our background, and because of our views on apartheid. And today, many of us are shunned by all sides: ‘moderate’ blacks say we could have done more but didn’t; extremist blacks say we don’t belong in Africa and at best consider us unwelcome guests; extremist whites say we bear primary responsibility for the downfall of SA; wealthy whites live in fortresses and refuse to see beyond their personal interests and daily needs and concerns; and criminal blacks hunt us down and force us to flee for our lives. I have committed no crime, not even the ‘crime’ of self-defense (and we all know that S. African ‘justice’ often treats those who acted in self defense more harshly than it treats all rapists and murderers combined). I am just a hardworking person who wants to have a decent life, but there is no place for people like me in the ‘new’ SA. I represent everything that the rulers of this country (and their loyal ‘opposition’) despise. I, and others like me, represent a threat to ANC’s reign of terror; we are the FUTURE of SA, those of us who believe in ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY; and don’t laugh when I say that people like me are the ONLY ones who would like to see an end to racism and racialism in S. African politics and society. Yes, my friend.
You can celebrate our departure, but I can assure you, it is cause for mourning, not celebration.

I don’t know much about MS, so forgive me if I am out of line here — I wish your wife recovery. I don’t know what it feels like to have MS, but I have seen relatives as well as my best friend suffer from and succumb to cancer. Cancer runs through my family line. My mother has survived cancer (thanks to early diagnosis). Neither my grandfather nor my closest friend (we were friends from cradle to matric) survived it.
Thanks for the more understanding tone, china. It sure is a rare occurrence these days. Problem is, people are too lazy to look beyond the surface; or, are afraid of what they will find behind it if they do. They are afraid of looking, lest they discover that underneath all those words there is a HUMAN BEING with a lot of anger and pain. Even in our pain and suffering, we are perceived as threats. Why? Because our pain will shatter the myth that only blacks are / can be victims; that only blacks can feel pain on their skin; that only blacks can be emotionally traumatised; that only blacks deserve acknowledgment of their sufferings. By the mere colour of my skin, my pain is considered ‘exaggerated’ (if not an outright lie); my anger at the perpetrators and their racist motives, illegitimate; my hatred of those who remain silent — politicians and their followers alike — about my (and others’) experiences and who expand the circle of pain by their inactions, a mere function of my ‘pathologically racist whiteness.’
I did not demand that anyone agree with the hateful manifestations of my pain. I do not expect people to espouse racist views; but I do want people to stop dehumanising and marginalising us in the manner that Richard does so often on his blog. I’ve attempted to engage people in dialogue (without name-calling) so many times, and have been pushed away an equal number of times. I have found people unwilling to talk and understand. People equate empathy with agreement. I have even tried to talk with black S. Africans, but have found them unwilling to get off their moral high ground. I haven’t given up trying, but some day I might, and that’d be the real tragedy, knowing that the right amount of empathy could have contributed to the (partial, if not total) healing of ‘wounds.’ The fact that I’ve been pushed away so many times only confirms my belief that in the ‘new’ SA, pain is a zero-sum game; that it was always meant to be that way; that the rainbow-nation talk was a mere window dressing (not unrelated to the financial aspirations of the ANC rulers, made possible through FDI).
Anyhow, I look forward to reading your response to my comment(s).

I am tired of begin judged by the color of my skin. I try not to judge other people (regardless of their skin color). I am tired of asking forgiveness for apartheid. How many times till I will be granted forgiveness? Can’t we just try to move on? The problem with SA is that people do not want to move on. I have a seriously crap low paying job, every day I scan the papers and the net for better paying positions, every time I find something that would suit me or I’m qualified for, my hopes are shattered when I see those dreaded letters “AA”. F*ck AA, it should be called NI – Negative Impact, because thats all it is. A balls up on everything, Why the hell do you think Eskom is sitting up to their ears in their own shit? Because of AA and BEE and whatever else you want to call Black Racism now days. Eskom replaced skilled workers who were QUALIFIED and EXPERIENCED with Black students straight out of school or college or tech, these people recieved little training and then still the white people being retrenched had to TRAIN the people replacing them, gee you tell me, would you do your best to train the fucker taking your job? I think not. And In municiple departments they have replaced smaller offices that contained 5-10 skilled workers with 20-30 unskilled, untrained and incredibly unhelpful people, who never even answer a phone let alone sort out a problem.
To me, there is a distinct difference in the black community, there are those who are all to happy and willing to be hired according to thier appearance, to get fat and rich off government contracts while supplying poor service and low quality products and there are those very few who feel offended to get a position because of the color of their skin, like their knowledge dosnt matter, as long as they look black they have the job, they too feel our government is corrupt and useless.. they too feel let down by the system.
Every SOUTH AFRICAN has been let down by the “system”. The “system” is so revoltingly flaud its on the verge of collapse.
I dont care what you say, I was not responsible in ANY way for the apartheid era, but i would agree with your arguement if you had stated that infact at this moment south africa is experiencing apartheid once more, but this time WHITE people are the VICTIMS. -

How can a country possibly move forward when it is so shackled to its history? Read it, know it, understand it, never allow it to happen again and leave it in the past.
There is a new national pride and identity that is growing in South Africa, and it should be enjoyed and nurtured as much as possible.
South Africa no longer suffers from repressed speech as so many other countries still today do. Nor does it linger in the stronghold of denial, or equally shameful, in the inability or out right refusal to admit and confront (as is the case of Australia). Displacement of the repressed community has not really been a massive problem as it has been in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, people who were exiled for political reasons have been able to return to South Africa. The repressed community is now the ruling community, a luxury afforded by sheer numbers (which, unlike in the States for example, makes equality is a true ideal, and doesn’t just look good on paper) and there has been an effort to not only allow for the development of previously disadvantaged people, but also to not totally alienate the minorities.
I fully subscribe to the thought that South Africa is still in its early days of healing. There is a long road ahead, not only of reconciliation but also to reach an endpoint agreeable to all (or at the very least, most). As a young, white South African I agree that to some extent I have earned my opportunities from a regime that was favourable to me simply for the colour of my skin. But I have also earned those opportunities through my own hard work and tenacity and through the hard work, tenacity and struggle of my forebears, who in their turn fled their home countries. But for the chances that I have been given in life because of my colour, or rather for the lack in opportunities that others of other skin colour have suffered, there has to be some sort of ‘equal and opposite reaction’ before a plateau can reached. This may take as long as the initial action (hopefully not, but who knows?).
For those people (not only white, the South African ‘brain drain’ reflects a mixed demography) who have left South Africa for financial reasons, opportunistic reasons or personal reasons due to violation; they have done so in their own right and no one has the right to dismiss those reasons. It is true that pastures are not greener on the other side of the fence. That is part of the struggle though. Many people have chosen to leave South Africa because they no longer find their living conditions in South Africa acceptable. Feeling safe is a basic human right. But that’s another argument altogether.
South Africans have it so lucky and they have no idea. Take any number of African countries, Eastern Europe and Asia, and just consider what you have: Freedom of speech and movement, opportunity to get ahead, and most of all HOPE. Let’s endeavour as a nation to heal and find peace. Let’s throw our energy and collective intellect into solving the horrific disparity in wealth, improving social, living, health and education conditions for the underprivileged, and finding a solution to the ‘violent crime culture’. These are massive and extremely intimidating goals, but they are not unattainable, and every tiny, little bit will help.

‘How my five-month-old baby was raped’Her baby girl’s cries of distress on the other side of the locked door told her that something was horribly wrong – but she was powerless to stop her from being raped.
The 24-year-old mother pounded on her locked bedroom door and begged the young man inside the room with her five-month-old baby to let her in.
But the alleged rapist, a close friend, insisted that the key was jammed in the lock.
In desperation the woman – who may not be identified to protect her child’s identity – ran to a nearby public telephone to call the police. But she was too late. She returned “three minutes later” to find the door open and her child crying. The baby had been raped and was so severely injured that she later underwent emergency surgery.
The suspect had fled after a security guard in the building allegedly tipped him off about the telephone call to police.
The five-month-old girl is the latest victim of a series of brutal baby rapes.
The first case to rock the nation was that of Baby Tshepang, a nine-month-old girl from Louisvaleweg in the Northern Cape who was gang-raped and horrifically injured last month by six men.
A second case, a week ago, involved the abduction and rape of a sleeping eight-month-old girl from her home in Ravensmead, Cape Town. The badly injured child was left lying in a dark street, where she was found by passers-by.
The latest incident happened around 5pm in Joubert Park, central Johannesburg, where the mother lived.
“I had heard about the baby who was raped in the Northern Cape,” she said. “But I never believed such a thing could happen until my child was raped.”
On Saturday night, doctors performed a colostomy on the little girl, a procedure where a hole is made in the abdominal wall to provide an artificial anus.
It is unclear if the baby will have to live with a colostomy bag, which is inserted into the hole to collect faeces, for the rest of her life.
She was in a stable condition in Johannesburg Hospital. She was wearing an oxygen mask and being fed by a drip.
Her mother has been unable to sleep since the incident happened and has remained by her side, standing next to the beeping heart monitor alongside the cot.
“It’s not nice to cry in front of the patients. But we are shocked,” said Sister Emma Nhlapho, who learnt about the rape when she came on duty on Sunday morning.
The mother said she cried so much after the incident, when she realised her baby was bleeding, that she could barely carry her baby. A stranger took pity on her and accompanied her to Johannesburg Hospital, where they were taken by police.
She said the father was “heartbroken. He even dropped the telephone.”
Members of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit on Sunday afternoon arrested a suspect, thought to be 17 years old.
Police had their hands full trying to apprehend the suspect. They patrolled the streets of Joubert Park while the suspect called them from various public telephones before they finally persuaded him to hand himself over.
A second, 24-year-old suspect, whose connection with the case was unclear, was being held for questioning, and police were seeking a third person.

I did all that was required of me, never shirking my duty. I was awarded a medal, along with many others, for completing all of my National Service.
My only regret is that I did not serve a democratic South Africa. All my service was done prior to the 1994 elections.

Be proud you served in the most advanced and powerful army of that time. We were better than Americans or the Soviet Army. Nobody had the training and equipment that we had back then.
I served in 8th Infantry Battalion in Upington. I am not sure if you trained at Riemvasmaak but we did. I will always remember those glorious days.
Even you wouldnt even want to serve in today’s SANDF. Have you seen the conditions there? Half of officers are infested with AIDS and the soldiers arent trained properly. The new army is so incompetent thanks to the officers from former terrorist organizations. The order in SANDF is being maintained a bit by White officers but they are being purged. When the Whites go, SANDF will disintegrate.
Why shouldnt I miss my old SA? I could go out in Durban and not fear for my life. My wife could go shopping and not get harassed. We used to go out and hang out till the morning without problems. Now law and order is gone. SAPS doesnt fight crime and it is incompetent. Are going to deny that?

Our battalion didnt go out killing innocent people. We would hunt down the criminals and arrest them. If they didnt give up, we would take them out. Go ahead and ask blacks in townships when they like it better, back in 1980s or now. We wanted to maintain law and order. Today the SADF is gone and no one is out patrolling the townships, therefore the criminals and crooks run wild.
Also dont forget that much of the work in townships was done by other black informants and the 32 Battalion. They did even a better job than we did.

I do remember that we mostly hated the PF members who looked down upon us conscripts.
I don’t think the South African Armed Forces (then and now) could hold up against the US Armed Forces. They are a much more modern force with a much higher fighting morale.
Their equipment, their training and their combat formations are superior to ours.
If you analyze their Brigade Combat Teams, you will see what I mean. Look also at YouTube videos of their Strykers in action. Our rattel is no match for it.
A European soldier also has better equipment. Look at the German made Leopard 2 tank which NATO has adopted.
Search for these things on YouTube and you will see them in action.
It’s not just their weapons that are superior, it is also their communications systems like Land Warrior which make them a superior fighting force.
The SADF won relatively easy victories over ill-equipped foes and foes whose morale was lower than ours.

Back in 1970s SADF was superior to the US Army. Their army was recovering from Vietnam. Check out some videos of SADF in action in Angola. Our tank crews already had wireless headsets. Our vehicles were superior to the Soviet ones. Remember our Buffel APC? It is the best combat vehicle and even Americans are using it in Iraq. How about the G6 Mobile Artillery? The best artillery gun in the world, even now!
Our soldiers didnt suffer from low morale like the Americans did. We never lost control of the war like they did.
Everyone, even the mighty Russians feared us. They knew we were the best. Our military was a clone of the IDF and Israelis were fond of us.
I also didnt want to go serve but I was proud to be in Upington with the 8SAI.
Too bad it was all a waste in the end.

With their airforce destroyed, the way would be clear for a land based invasion. I don’t know if you know it already, but this is modern military doctrine – first achieve air superiority, then invade by land.
If South Africa were to roll armoured divisions into Zimbabwe, the majority of their Armed Forces would flee north to Zambia. So we should parachute in a blocking force to prevent their escape.
That actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I would relish being part of a unit with the sole responsibility of totally annihilating all their so-called war veterans. As long as we don’t have to take prisoners, I would be interested.
