Ledger didn’t commit suicide according to the New York City medical examiner’s office.
What he did do was exactly what Anna Nicole Smith (the blonde bimbo who died of a prescription drug overdose last year) did. He stuffed himself full of a cocktail of prescription drugs for pain and anxiety which together proved lethal.
Ledger, like many lay people, didn’t appreciate the fact that drugs, even prescription drugs, need to be used with care. Even if only the recommended dosage of one drug is taken, combining them, without first seeking advice from a doctor or pharmacist, can prove fatal to you as it did to Smith and Ledger.
Even something as "innocuous" as paracetamol (a commonly used headache pill sold as Panado etc.) is extremely hard on the kidneys. A mere 20 tablets of 500mg each (10 grams in total) taken within a 24 hour period is considered a lethal dosage. Death occurs after several days of agony brought on by renal (kidney) failure.
It’s not just the hard street drugs (heroin, cocaine, tik, esctasy etc.) that are killers, any drug is a potential killer if you use it without knowing what you’re doing.

February 8th, 2008 at 10:27Some good points. One should never underestimate the power of prescription or OTC drugs.
One thing though – paracetamol kills you via hepatic (liver) failure – not kidney failure.
But I guess terminal agonising pain is pretty unpleasant no matter which organs are involved… -

Gosh are we gullible or not? Most of my friends are walking talking pharmacies with more knowledge of pharmaceuticals than a pharmacist! I mean go to any club and the whatsnot of coke, e, rohypnol and acid and are commmon place. I mean please! Are we really supposed to believe that Heath and Anna didn’t know whatsup! Are you telling me that somehow Heath didn’t know what happened to Elvis or other famous people? That somehow he didn’t read the newspaper or didn’t smoke dube at school and chat to his mates about narcotics…please wake me when its over!
These were just like Elvis two very clever people. I am sorry I do not buy it. They knew exactly what they were doing. So either they didn’t do it to themselves and were murdered or they wanted to die.

Did you stop to consider, especially if Heath was taken anti-anxiety meds and pills to help him sleep that he perhaps he was either half asleep or out of his mind with worries ( its amazing how anxieties can do your head in and over-rule your normal mental capacities ) and just didnt realise what he was doing ?
You know, you wake up from a fitiful sleep, fitiful because your mind wouldnt shut down all the thinking your doing and you go ” maybe one more of these, one more of those, and finally i can get some rest ? ”
Sure, have your opinion, everyone is welcome to one, but do you have to be so blase and frankly insensitive whilst presenting it?

The error, if you were looking for one, that I made in my post was calling Anna, “Anne”, since corrected.

February 8th, 2008 at 14:55Hanlie, although Ledger was suffering from depression due to his failed three year relationship with Michelle Williams, people close to him do not believe he was suicidal.
Furthermore, no suicide note was left. The conclusion that his death was a result of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs seems valid.
I consider his passing quite tragic. He was a talented young actor who was set to entertain us all for years to come.
A lot of young stars battle with addictions these days. Kirsten Dunst, for instance, just checked into a Utah rehab a few days ago. Now that’s a hottie I want to stay alive!
