Heath Ledger did an Anna Nicole Smith number on himself

Ledger didn’t commit suicide according to the New York City medical examiner’s office.

What he did do was exactly what Anna Nicole Smith (the blonde bimbo who died of a prescription drug overdose last year) did. He stuffed himself full of a cocktail of prescription drugs for pain and anxiety which together proved lethal.

Ledger, like many lay people, didn’t appreciate the fact that drugs, even prescription drugs, need to be used with care. Even if only the recommended dosage of one drug is taken, combining them, without first seeking advice from a doctor or pharmacist, can prove fatal to you as it did to Smith and Ledger.

Even something as "innocuous" as paracetamol (a commonly used headache pill sold as Panado etc.) is extremely hard on the kidneys. A mere 20 tablets of 500mg each (10 grams in total) taken within a 24 hour period is considered a lethal dosage. Death occurs after several days of agony brought on by renal (kidney) failure.

It’s not just the hard street drugs (heroin, cocaine, tik, esctasy etc.) that are killers, any drug is a potential killer if you use it without knowing what you’re doing.
